IPC-A-600, a supporting document to the well-known board specification standard IPC-6012 for rigid boards, has been used for many years the approvalstandard for incoming and outgoing inspection of PCBs.

The certification program for approval of printedboards provides PCB manufacturers and users with a really good tool ensurecompliance to the high-quality requirements from the industry. No matter wherein the world the customer or the supplier is located.

The standardpresents the minimum requirements from the IPC-6010 series of standards.

In this trainer course the participants are trainedand certified as CIT (Certified IPC Trainers) who are qualified to performcompany internal training of operators (Certified IPC Specialists - CIS).

These operators will be performing incoming qualityinspection of boards. The program is using the method of ”training the trainer”.

The certificateis valid for two years, and grants access to online training material for the CIStraining course.

Please note! To qualify for renewal, a CIT shall conduct at leastone (1) IPC CIS course a year. The CIT must train a minimum of 5 CIS candidatesduring their twenty-four-month certification period

During the course the following topics will be coveredtheoretically:

• Product classification and criteria for approval of printed boards
• Base material characteristics, externally and internally observable e.g. measling/delamination
• Solder mask coverage and registration
• Dielectric material criteria (etchback, voids and resin recession)
• Plated hole requirements
• Copper plating thickness
• Voids and cracks
• Criteria for approval of flex, rigid-flex and metal core boards

The course is aimed production engineers, qualityengineers, designers and operators who need to document knowledge of how toinstruct operators in accordance with the requirements in IPC-A-600.
