SMT repair

NB! Including lead and lead-free process

Incorrect setting of repairs equipment is an essential reason why many repairs of PCBs cause new defects. The problem has not lessened as many companies receive components with both leaded and lead-free finishes from the component suppliers. Defective PCBs affect the efficiency. Add to this the risk of hidden defects.

During the course there will be worked on correct repairs and modification of SMD-assemblies both theoretically and practically. At the same time the participants will increase their knowledge regarding choice of rework and repair equipment.


Among other things the following will be focused on:

  • Knowledge of components/type of components
  • Visual inspection (methods for fault location)
  • Correct soldering and de-soldering (Lead free and leaded components and processes)
  • Handling of SMD-components
  • Rework and repair equipment
  • PCB repair
  • Soldering and de-soldering of BGAs (Ball Grid Array)
The course is designed for employees in the production, production technical department and department for development.
